Bathtub Refinishing

Porcelain bathtubs on cast iron or steel. Fiberglass bathtubs and shower pans. Custom colors and Kohler or American Standard white.

Repairs

Porcelain, fiberglass, cultured marble and Formica can all be repaired. This includes chips, cracks, holes, burn marks or stains on almost any surface.

Bathtub Restoration

Antique claw-foot and pedestal bathtubs restored to look and feel like new. This process is done on-site and in place to prevent damage during shipping.

Resurfacing

Porcelain bathtubs that have been previously refinished can be stripped and resurfaced again. Refinished fiberglass, is mechanically, stripped and resurfaced.

Non-slip

During or after the refinishing process non-slip granules or a permanent bathmat can be applied to the new or existing finish creating a subtle but effective safety measure.

Sink Fixtures

Pedestal, wall-mount and corner mounted bath sinks can be refinished or restored avoiding costly replacement. Many of these fixtures are quite unique.

Bath Tech was founded in 1993 by a, fourth generation, artisan with nearly three decades of practical field experience and trade knowledge, dedicated to honing his craft and producing some of the finest finishes seen in the industry today.

Things to remember when choosing a refinishing company

Do they offer a warranty? Professional refinishing companies, almost, always will offer a warranty on their products and services. At Bath Tech we offer a 1-5 year, limited, warranty unless specified by our technician.

Do they include repairs to the bathtub, shower stall, countertop? If not, find a professional that does!

Do they offer references? Ask!

Do they use an acid etch to prepare porcelain fixtures? If they don’t, find a professional refinishing company that does!

Do they offer written estimates and contracts?

Are they willing to explain their procedure? True professional refinishing companies have NOTHING to hide! If they claim that it is a “trade” secret … move on!

Are they willing to do physical inspections and estimates?

How long does the process take and when can I use my bathtub again?

In most cases a standard bathtub, in fair to good condition, can be refinished in 6-8 hours. If the bathtub has been refinished before and requires the stripping process it can be two day. The finish must cure for 24 hours before using the bathtub again.

How long can I expect the finish to last?

A bathtub professionally refinished by Bath Tech, with proper care and maintenance, can last a lifetime! The typical lifespan of a new finish is 10-15 years.

If my bathtub has been refinished before, and the finish is failing, can it be refinished once again?

If a bathtub has been previously refinished it can be stripped and refinished again. This process can add up to a day of additional preparation time.

My bathtub has shower doors. Do they have to be removed and do you do that?

A bathtub with shower doors can be refinished with the door tracks left in place. If the customer would like the existing doors removed Bath Tech will provide that service. We DO NOT take responsibility for any damage to the door tracks upon removal.

If the drain shoe and the overflow plate need to be replaced do you do that?

In most cases the overflow plate will be removed and replaced unless the fastening screws are rusting and could potentially break. The drain shoe is left in place as to not cause any damage to the existing plumbing.

Do you remove the old caulking and re-caulk the bathtub?

Bath Tech will remove the old caulking and re-caulk the bathtub with 3M 100% Silicone caulking.

Can you install a non-slip surface to the bathtub?

Non-slip safety granules can be applied prior to the refinishing process. We also offer the installation of permanent non-slip safety mats after a bathtub has been refinished.
